FIBA Strategic and Development Workshop 2019 of the South Asian Basketball Association Sub Zone was held on 07th and 08th March 2019 in The Chancery Pavilion Hotel, Bengalaru,India.
President of the Bhutan , Secretaries from Sri Lanka,India,Bhutan ,Afganistan , Bangladesh and Representatives from Maldives ,Bangladesh and India participated for this workshop .Nepal and Pakistan were absent.
Mr. Hagop Khajirian -Executive Director,FIBA Asia, Mr. Varadan Petrosyan-Competitions Director ,FIBA Asia,Mr. Hovsep Seraydarian - Communications Director, FIBA Asia, Ms. Andrea Paoli - National Federation Development,FIBA Asia, Mr. Maarouf Mawloud - Manager Statistics and Mr. Heros Avenasian- Manager Officiating and Licensing,FIBA Asia made the presentations.
It was a very interactive and informative workshop where FIBA Asia is going to do major changes in the areas of competition,licensing,media,communication,officiating and coaching to take FIBA Asia on par with the digital advancement in the world.
President of the Basketball Federation of India Mr.K.Govindraj and Secretary Mr. Chander Mukhi Sharma made the welcome address and the vote of thanks accordingly.
Dr. Chula Senaratne -Secretary General , SLBF is elected to the South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Central Board for the period of 2019-2023
South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Sub Zone Assembly was held on 06th March 2019 at Chancery Pavilion Hotel, Bengaluru, India
Mr. Hagop Khajirian - Executive Director ,FIBA Asia ,stressed on the importance of the SABA Sub Zone for the activities of FIBA Asia and commended the SABA sub zone for their commitment towards the activities of the FIBA Asia with difficulties.
President Mr. Ahamed Hafiz (Maldives) and the Secretary General Mr.A. Sarker (Bangladesh) thanked the member national federations and the FIBA Asia for the support they have rendered towards the activities of SABA Sub Zone.
At the election of the New Board of SABA Sub zone following were elected.
Mr. Jigme Namgyal - President ,Basketball Federation of Bhutan was elected as the President of the SABA sub zone for the period 2019-2023,
Mr. A Sarker -Secretary for the Bangladesh Basketball Federation was reelected as the Secretary General of the SABA Sub Zone for the period of 2019-2023.
Mr. K. Govindraj- President, Basketball Federation of India was elected as the SABA Sub Zone Representative for the FIBA Asia Board for the period of 2019-2023
Dr. Chula Senaratne - Secretary General, Sri Lanka Basketball Federation was elected to the Central Board of SABA sub Zone for the period of 2019-2023.

Under 17 Boys and Girls teams of Basketball club C.D Magec Tias,from Lanzarote,Spain played with the Gateway International School , Rajagiriya and the Girls played with the St.Joseph's Girls School Nugegoda at Gateway International outdoor basketball court ,Rajagiriya on 02/03/19 SLBF would like to thank Mr.Tharindu Fernando,the coach of the Gateway International School for organizing these matches.Also the President and the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Basketball Coaches Association Mr.Ajith Kuruppu and Mr.S.Selvaraja for their Assistance has organised these 2 matches with the assistance.
